New construction
Clear architecture for villas, homes, commercial spaces, and cultural buildings with timeless quality
As a new-build architect, MATH architecten designs homes and buildings that excel in spaciousness, simplicity, detailing, and functional clarity. A new-build project offers the unique opportunity to fully align a design with your wishes, the location, the plot, and the future. We guide the entire process—from the first sketch to completion—and create new-build architecture that is sustainable, well-thought-out, and aesthetically powerful.
New construction requires not only creativity, but also technical knowledge, expertise in regulations, cost awareness, and insight into the entire construction process. Therefore, we employ an integrated approach in which design skills and specialist knowledge align seamlessly.
What does a new-build architect do?
A new-build architect translates your housing or construction ambitions into a design that functions logically, feels comfortable, and fits within the available budget and applicable regulations. The process does not begin with the design itself, but with a thorough analysis of the location and the constraints. Consider the characteristics of the plot, orientation to the sun and views, sightlines, building regulations, and the desired living program.
At MATH architects, this means that every project begins with a careful study of the possibilities. Based on this, we develop a design that is both architecturally strong and practically feasible. We translate your wishes into clear floor plans that align with your lifestyle and combine this with a distinct architectural signature and carefully selected materials.
Sustainable construction forms a natural starting point in this process. From the very first sketch, we take energy consumption, material choices, and future-proofing into account. In addition, we guide the entire process, from initial design to completion. By working closely with municipalities, contractors, and technical specialists, we ensure a clear process in which quality, planning, and costs are continuously monitored.
The result is a new-build home or building that is not only beautiful to look at, but also functions comfortably for decades and remains architecturally relevant.
New-build homes and villas
For private clients, we design new-build homes where comfort, daylight, and spaciousness take center stage. Each home is designed in relation to its surroundings and the plot on which it stands. The position of the house, its orientation toward sunlight, and the view to the outside play an important role in this.
A good home has clear circulation and a logical layout of spaces. We always seek a balance between openness and privacy: spaces where daily life takes place receive as much light and views of the surroundings as possible, while other parts of the home offer peace and seclusion.
Our projects range from compact and efficient homes to modern villas on spacious plots. We design detached homes as well as terraced or semi-detached houses. In some projects, we develop flexible living concepts that can be expanded or adapted in the future.
Each home is designed with use, atmosphere, and materiality in mind. By paying close attention to detail, a home is created that is not only functional but also possesses a strong architectural identity.
Designing and realizing: the complete process
New construction is a process consisting of multiple phases. We fully manage these phases and ensure clarity, structure, and control at every step.
1. Introductory meeting
We discuss your wishes, budget, living style, and possibilities on the plot. This consultation is without obligation and forms the basis for a clear step-by-step plan. You will receive a phased proposal for our work.
2. Sketch design
Based on an initial analysis, we translate the wishes into an initial spatial proposal: floor plans, volumes, lighting, and architectural direction.
3. Preliminary Design
We are further developing the design, exploring alternatives, and coordinating with the municipality and the aesthetics committee if necessary.
4. Final Design
The floor plans, facades, materialization, and technical specifications are defined. This forms the basis for the environmental permit. At this stage, a structural engineer and potentially other specialists are also engaged.
5. Environmental permit
We handle the entire submission: structural engineering, building code calculations, ventilation, daylight, fire safety, and all new construction requirements, and engage other specialists where necessary.
6. Technical Elaboration & Construction Preparation
We create detailed drawings and technical specifications, and assemble the package for contractors. In some cases, a contractor can be involved in the project at an earlier stage, and work is carried out using a so-called construction team.
7. Construction supervision
During construction, we monitor the quality, detailing, and execution to ensure the design is realized as intended.
This full-service approach provides peace of mind and ensures predictability in terms of time, planning, and budget.
Cost transparency and feasibility
A successful new construction project begins with a realistic approach to costs and possibilities. Therefore, we pay attention to financial feasibility in every design phase.
We provide cost estimates aligned with the design and assist in making choices regarding materials and technical solutions. We also optimize floor plans to ensure space is utilized efficiently without unnecessary construction costs.
In addition, we assist clients with the selection of a contractor and the choice of a suitable contract form. Thanks to this integrated approach, the project remains financially manageable and surprises during construction are prevented as much as possible.
Sustainable and circular construction
Sustainability plays a central role in contemporary architecture. At MATH architects, we integrate future-proof building from the very first design phase.
This can mean, for example, that the home is optimally oriented towards sunlight and daylight, so that natural heat and light are utilized to the maximum. High-quality insulation and draught sealing are also applied to limit energy consumption.
In addition, we integrate modern installations such as heat pumps and ventilation systems that contribute to a healthy indoor climate. In some projects, circular materials are used, or green roofs and rainwater harvesting systems are incorporated into the design.
This integrated approach results in a new-build home with low energy costs, high comfort, and a minimal ecological impact.
For which clients do we work?
We design new builds for a wide range of clients. Many projects are realized for private individuals who wish to build a home on their own plot or have a modern villa designed.
In addition, we work for developers realizing small- and large-scale residential construction projects, and for entrepreneurs or institutions that want to have a new building designed for their organization.
Projects also occur in which new construction is combined with existing buildings, for example in the repurposing or expansion of existing buildings.
Regardless of the scale of the project, we always apply the same careful, analytical, and architectural approach.
